— What We Do

The Brouhard lab performs basic science research at the interface of biology, biochemistry, and physics. We want to understand the mechanism of key molecules involved in the formation of the human brain. Mutations in these molecules cause disorders in brain development and disease, and our goal is to understand the basis of these diseases. Our research also focuses on the formation of a polymer network in cells, the microtubule cytoskeleton, and we want to understand how these polymers are nucleated, elongated, and broken down. Click on the Cytoskeleton page and the Research Projects page to learn more. Please look at our Publications and see the Tools We Use in our research. Our work is generously funded by the Canadian government; see our Funding page for more.
